A few days ago I posted info about a Business Class fare sale going on until the end of the month. I now follow up with the First Class version.
For another week, Passengers can book First Class travel to Europe starting in the low $5000 area. The best deal seems to be Boston – Brussels for only $5200 while most other east coast departures range in the $5400-6200 area. For midwest and west coast departures, expect fares to range between $6000 and $7000.
The rules are similar to the Business Class sale in that tickets must be purchased by August 31 and travel must take place over the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend. Departures must take place between November 21 and 27 while return flights must take place between November 26 and December 2. Weekend departures may carry a small surcharge.
Most importantly, pay attention to the carriers that will be operating your flights.
For this sale, eligible carriers include United, Brussels, Air Canada, SWISS, Austrian and Lufthansa. Out of these, only Lufthansa, SWISS and United offer a ‘true’ First Class cabin.
Obviously my recommendation is to choose Lufthansa or SWISS for the superior product, not to mention the fact that flying LH or LX will gain you access to the First Class Lounges and Frankfurt’s First Class Terminal.
Don’t forget to get your duck!

Lufthansa has quietly launched a fantastic First Class fare sale. Before you get too excited there are a few provisions that you have to abide by.
First, the sale is a 2 for 1 deal, so you have to buy 2 tickets in order to take advantage of the pricing.
Next, your travel must originate from an Austrian airport, including but not limited to Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck, Salzburg, etc. and connect through either Munich or Frankfurt. You’ll also need to return to Austria.
The destinations are limited to Asia (including India), Africa and South America. From doing a quick fare search, I was not able to find any deals to North America. Also, not every date or routing has this fare available. It is a bit of hit-n-miss and a bit of luck.
However, you can find fantastic deals like Graz to Hong Kong for only €2390 per person. That’s less than a typical Business Class seat and you also get to enjoy things like Caviar, Rimowa Amenity Kits and visits to the First Class Lounges and First Class Terminal!
Other fare examples include Rio for €3500, Beijing / Shanghai for €2999, Johannesburg for €3500 and Dubai for €2499.
The rules of the fares are as follows:
The fares are available for booking until August 13 (or when sold out).
Travel must take place between August 13, 2015 and March 31, 2016.
Tickets must be purchased 14 days prior to departure.
Your connecting flight from Austria to Germany will be in Business Class.
The Fares appear to booking to ‘A’ so you’ll earn 3x/miles.
NOT REFUNDABLE.
NOT CHANGEABLE.
Hopefully your travel plans are flexible enough so that you can take advantage of this great offer!
Please note, if you are having trouble finding the fares online, you may need to call the reservation center since this is considered a companion fare and may not be properly loaded into their online reservation systems.
You can also contact SkyTravelAgent.com for assistance in booking this fare. I’ve used them successfully in building mileage runs and taking advantage of fare sales and recommend them highly!

Earlier this week, Lufthansa announced a down-gage in aircraft that will affect service between Frankfurt and Seoul, South Korea during February and March 2016.
Beginning on February 4, Lufthansa will replace the 747-8i that typically flies the route with a 747-400. The 744 will be a 3-class (Business / Prem. Economy / Economy) aircraft and will fly between Frankfurt and Seoul until March 25 at which point the 747-8i is expected to return to the route. First Class will not be available on the route during this time.
Typically these changes are made to reflect the passenger loads that LH expects to see during this time of year and the 747-8i will be redeployed on busier routes.
PLEASE NOTE that First Class will still be available between Munich and Seoul during this time frame.
