LUFTHANSA Business Class Sale To Europe

LUFTHANSA Business Class Sale To Europe

OK, this Business Fare sale is not nearly as good as the “Great Fare War of April 2014” where we saw a myriad of Business Class fares to Europe for as low as $1500.  However, the fares in this sale are still attractive and are about 50% lower than usual.   Additionally, the travel window is quite large giving you plenty of opportunities.

The fare sale runs until July 2, 2014.   Departures must take place between June 27 and August 30 and return flights must take place between July 7 and November 30.   Tickets must be purchased 60 days ahead of your desired departure date.

Most fares from Lufthansa’s East Coast Gateways start in the high $2000 range, with the best deals coming from New York to Munich for only $2900.  Otherwise, you’ll see fares along the east coast ranging in the low $3000 area.    West Coast departures (LAX and SFO) run in the mid $6000 range making it less attractive than an East Coast departure.

In looking at some sample bookings, there are several instances where the flights are actually operated by United or Air Canada, so be mindful when booking your tickets especially if you are looking to enjoy LH’s hospitality.   Another reason to pay attention to the operating carrier is because of the miles that you may OR MAY NOT earn for your frequent flyer program.   The fares for this sale are booking into ‘P’ class which is a deep discount Business fare class.   As the saying goes, Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV) based on the frequent flyer program that you credit miles to.

LUFTHANSA Introduces New First & Business Class Amenity Kit

LUFTHANSA Introduces New First & Business Class Amenity Kit

Lufthansa has announced a new First Class amenity kit that will begin to appear on long haul flights in mid-April. They also announced a limited edition kit coming to Business Class for May and June.

The First Class kit, made by ESCADA will replace the different variations of kits that passengers find onboard currently.

A nice feature of the new kit is that the case is designed to be used as tablet cover once it has served its purpose as an Amenity Kit.

Beginning in May and running for a VERY SHORT TIME there will also be a new Business Class Amenity Kit that will celebrate Germany’s World Cup Team. That kit will only be available for Long Haul flights departing Germany in May and June.

Here is a photo showing the new First Class kit:

LUFTHANSA Strike Update – Meeting Scheduled With Union

LUFTHANSA Strike Update – Meeting Scheduled With Union

Lufthansa and Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) have scheduled a meeting for this coming Thursday.  The meeting is not an official negotiation session. However, both sides will use the time to create a framework for future negotiations.

After the crippling 3 day strike last week, I suspect emotions are running a bit high on both sides so hopefully they’ll use tomorrow’s meeting constructively and reboot their efforts.

If things go well tomorrow perhaps we’ll be fortunate enough to see the threat of strikes disappear. If not, it will be back to square one and the threat of more strikes.

If your plans involve Easter Weekend travel, you have little to worry about as the Union has said all along that they will not strike during the Holiday.

Here is an interesting piece from the Guardian that sums up the attitude of both sides. Including the public’s and even Lufthansa’s own employees frustration with all of this.
