In part I, we took a look inside of SWISS’ brand-new First Class Lounge that has opened in Concourse ‘E’ in Zurich. This time, we’ll take a deeper look at the new SENATOR Lounge that opened at the same time.
This new lounge appears to set a new benchmark as far as ‘SENATOR’ Lounges are concerned. The reason I say this is due to the amenities. Guests visiting the lounge will be treated to experiences that are new for most SENATOR Lounges.
For example, 120 unique brands of Whiskeys from all around the world are the to satisfy even the most discerning fans. Fresh hot food is prepared out in the open, in front of visitors. In addition, a traditional self serve buffet will be available as well. The lounge also has 4 shower rooms allowing guests to freshen up before, between, or after their flights. The outdoor terrace that I mentioned in the FIrst Class Lounge post is also available to SENATOR Lounge visitors as well.
See what I mean when I say a new benchmark??
The lounge is fairly large. At nearly 12,000 sq. ft., it is designed to accommodate 170 guests. Doing the math, if the lounge were at capacity, 70% of the people in the lounge could each have a unique dram of Whiskey at the same time. Impressive!
Here are several photos taken by VielFliegerTreff member Ralf (VFT Handle ‘RCS’) who was invited by SWISS to enjoy the opening day events…..

As part of a very active week in Zurich, SWISS not only welcomed home their first 777 (more on that this weekend), they also opened the doors to 3 new lounges in Concourse ‘E’. The new additions include First, Senator, and Business Class Lounges. I’ll cover each lounge separately since there are a lot of photos that show them off. A big thanks to Ralf (RCS on VielFliegerTreff.com) for sharing the photos that he took during his visit. In fact, if you visit that link, you’ll see more photos that Ralf had uploaded to the thread covering the new lounges.
From the looks of it, SWISS hit a home run with the First Class lounge. Some of the highlights include 2 dedicated ‘Hotel Rooms’ and a wine collection of over 1,000 bottles. The lounge also offers an impressive outdoor terrace that can be enjoyed when weather allows. A dedicated a-la-carte dining room completes the fantastic presentation.
The lounge is approximate 8,000 square feet and can comfortably accommodate 80 guests. Of course you need to be flying in First Class on a Lufthansa Group operated flight or ‘simply’ be a HON Circle member or a lucky guest of one.
Enjoy the photos, this will not be an easy lounge to get into! 🙂

SWISS has signed on the dotted line earlier this morning and has taken delivery of their first 777.
Later this afternoon, ‘HB-JNA’ will depart Paine Field in Washington at 1:35p (local PAE time) and head for Zurich where she’ll be greeted with a bit of fanfare over the next few days. This is the first of 9 777 aircraft that SWISS is set to receive.
For those of you wishing to check in on her flight, you can track it as flight LX7771.
