Targeted SWISS Offer: Book By July 20 And Earn Double Miles For N. American Bound Flights

Targeted SWISS Offer: Book By July 20 And Earn Double Miles For N. American Bound Flights

Check your email this morning!

SWISS has launched a promo that will award double miles for segments flown between Switzerland and SWISS’ gateways in North America.   The promo had been launched a few days ago, but not everyone got the email at the same time!

THE DETAILS:

You must register for the promotion by July 31 by using the link provided in your email.   I tried to recreate the link separately but I had no success.   I think you must use the link in the email!

The promo applies ONLY to Economy Class bookings.

You will earn 2x the AWARD miles that you would normally earn for your specific fare class.

Flights must be operated by SWISS.   There is an exception for Edelweiss LX8002 which flies between Zurich and Las Vegas.

Connecting flights do not count.  Only the transatlantic segments of a larger itinerary will earn the bonus award miles.

Travel must take place between August 10 and December 10, 2015 in order to earn the bonus miles.

There is a limit of 8 segments (4 Roundtrips, etc.) that will earn the bonus.

Available to Miles & More members worldwide.

At this point I do not know if a promo will come later today for travel originating in the USA.   The email that included this promo was intended for LX’s European market and arrived in my inbox at 9:45p Eastern, which means it will be waiting for Europeans when they wake up.  Hopefully their will be an email waiting for US based LX passengers in the morning.  However, even if you are US/North America based, you can take advantage of the promo if you have flights that will depart Switzerland for North America.

Specific Route Details Surrounding SWISS 777 Service

Specific Route Details Surrounding SWISS 777 Service

SWISS has updated their reservation systems today to reflect operational information covering their new 777s that will begin joining the fleet next year.

The debut of the aircraft is set to take place on February 21, 2016 when LX14 departs Zurich and heads for JFK.   The return flight from JFK is LX17.   Please be aware that the 777 will fly this route only on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

After JFK, Montreal will be the next destination to see the 777 when the aircraft begins flying to Montreal on March 27.   The 777 is expected to fly this route daily.

On April 10, Hong Kong will get its first look at the 777.   The 777 is set to initially fly to HGK on Wednesday, Friday, and Sundays.   Then, on May 3, 2016 777 service will expand to everyday EXCEPT Thursday and Saturday.   Beginning May 12, the 777 will fly to HKG on a daily basis.

Los Angeles will begin to see the 777 on a daily basis beginning on June 9, 2016.

As it stands now, SWISS is forecasting the following transition to 777 service on other long haul routes:

Bangkok on July 8

Sao Paulo on August 1

San Francisco on September 1

PLEASE keep in mind that these are very preliminary launch dates for 777 service and I suspect that the dates will change quite a bit between now and the 4th quarter this year.    These dates are assuming that the aircraft is delivered in early January by Boeing which will give time for SWISS crews to train on their new aircraft before taking it ‘live’.    Delays in delivery are possible and unfortunately, expected when it comes to these things.

What I do know is I have a reason to brave the weird winter weather in Seattle in January to see her fly home.

SWISS Reveals Cabin Interior & Initial Routes For New 777s

SWISS Reveals Cabin Interior & Initial Routes For New 777s

Earlier today, SWISS unveiled the look of their cabin interiors for all the classes for their new 777s that are set to join the fleet beginning next year.

Though the interiors are new, they certainly carry a bit of a reminder of the current color schemes.    The new aircraft will be configured for 8 First, 62 Business and 270 Economy class seats.   Each class will bring new features not previously available on LX aircraft.

First Class passengers will be able to enjoy a Suite-like experience thanks to the new seat design that will allow a sliding door to close, giving a passenger nearly perfect privacy.     The space above the seat will be open, but the side panels will be large enough to prevent anyone from peeking at the seat.   A large 32 inch Monitor will be the biggest in the industry.

Business Class seats also receive a face lift.    According to SWISS, privacy and comfort were the biggest criteria that went into the design.   With the new seat, passengers will of course be able to convert the seat into a true-flat bed and continue to be able to adjust the firmness of their seat cushion just as they have on the current LX Business class seat.

Economy class was not overlooked when it came to the design of the cabin and seat.  Newly designed seat cushions and large touch-screen monitors along with WiFi awaits passengers.    Economy pax will also have a self-serve kiosk available that will offer snacks and beverages.

As part of today’s news, SWISS also offered information on the routes that the new birds will fly on beginning next summer.   Initially, you’ll be able to see the 777s on routes to Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, San Francisco and even Tel Aviv.   For Sao Paulo, San Francisco and Tel Aviv it is expected that the routes will be split between 777s and A340s.
