In the coming days and weeks, Business Class passengers traveling on Lufthansa will be greeted by a new and improved Amenity Kit. Considering the Business Class kits used in the past, this looks like a fairly good upgrade.
The kit, from Samsonite, will feature a few minor updates to the contents as LH shifts to ‘Korres’ products. The kit will be available in Black and White versions and should be showing up on long haul flights very soon, if not already in circulation….

SWISS is running a fare sale for Business Class travel from the USA to several cities in Europe with pricing start at $2200-2300 (New York – Zurich). Most East Coast and Midwest departures (Chicago) range between $2200 and $2400 while departures from San Francisco and Los Angeles range between $2900 and $3400.
Like most Business Class fare sales, these rates are approximately 50% off of their normal price and are actually very good deals. Traditionally you’ll find the best premium fares of the year during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Take advantage of them if you plan on visiting the Christmas Markets that start in Europe at the same time!
According to the terms/conditions (which were not provided in detail), it looks like the fare sale covers travel between November 22 through December 5. However, you may find variances based on specific city pairs.
Also pay attention to the operating carrier. Some of my search results gave me the option of flying United or Edelweiss. Make sure that if you are going to spend $2500 on the ticket, that you make certain that SWISS is operating your flight! I say this because SWISS has one of the best Business Class products between the USA and Europe and it would be a shame for you to spend the money and not experience their hospitality!

The 2014 World Travel Awards For Europe are taking place this weekend in Athens, Greece and Lufthansa and SWISS have been honored with a handful of awards!
First, Lufthansa took home the trophy for ‘Europe’s Leading Airline’ for the 4th consecutive year. Additionally, Lufthansa also took home the prize for ‘Europe’s Leading Airline Lounges’ for the First Class Lounges in Frankfurt Airport.
SWISS takes home the award for ‘Europe’s Leading Business Class’ for the 4th year in a row. It seems like SWISS’ formula is working wonderfully!
The World Travel Awards host a series of these Award Ceremonies around the World and break down their events on a regional basis. This year, these ‘Regional Qualifying Events’ will take place for the following areas: The Middle East, Africa & the Indian Ocean, South & Central America, North America & the Caribbean, Asia & Australasia, and Europe.
Winners from each of these ‘Qualifiers’ will move on to compete at a year-end event in Morocco that will eventually crown a ‘World Champion’ in a variety of travel related categories. Voting is reserved for professionals in the travel industry and typically attracts upwards of 500,000 ballots each year.
Looks like LH and LX have advanced to the ‘Knock-Out’ Round! 😉

Earlier today, Lufthansa provided an update concerning the retrofit and roll out of the new Business Class cabins on their long haul aircraft.
To date, 44 out of 100 aircraft now feature the new Business Class interior. Out of the 44, 19 were delivered with the new cabin while 25 have thus far been retrofitted by Lufthansa Technik.
Following is a breakdown by each aircraft type and tail number:
A330:
Delivered with new cabin: D-AIKP, D-AIKQ, D-AIKR, D-AIKS
Retrofit of existing aircraft: D-AIKD, D-AIKE, D-AIKG, D-AIKH, D-AIKI, D-AIKM, D-AIKN.
A340-300:
Retrofit of existing aircraft: D-AIFC, D-AIFE, D-AIGL, D-AIGM, D-AIGN, D-AIGO, D-AIGS, D-AIGT, D-AIGV, D-AIGX, D-AIGZ.
A340-600:
Retrofit of existing aircraft: D-AIHE, D-AIHN, D-AIHQ, D-AIHR, D-AIHS.
A380:
Delivered with new cabin: D-AIMK, D-AIML.
Retrofit of existing aircraft: D-AIMB, D-AIME.
Boeing 747-400:
The first 747-400 is currently undergoing a retrofit to a 2 class configuration that will feature the new Business Class and standard economy class.
Boeing 747-8i:
All aircraft are furnished with the new Business Class cabin.

If my post from yesterday didn’t compel you to book a First Class Lufthansa ticket during their fare sale then perhaps this offer will do the trick.
In addition to the First Class fare deals during the Thanksgiving Holiday, Lufthansa is also offering GREAT deals for Business Class travel. In fact, you can get from New York to Dusseldorf for as low as $2100!
There are several attractive fares that cover travel from LH’s East Coast gateways to a variety of European destinations that range between $2200 and $2600, while fares from the West Coast start in the low $3000 range and move slightly higher from there.
As is the case with the First Class fare sale, this promotion ends on September 29. Travel must originate between November 22 and 28 and must be completed between November 27 and December 3. Tickets must be purchased 60 days ahead of departure.
If you are going to book this deal, please make sure that you pay attention to the airlines operating your flight as Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels, Austrian, Air Canada and United can all be operating carriers. Take my advice, choose one of the first 4!
If you want to experience LH’s popular new Business Class, I would recommend flying out of a Gateway City that offers the Boeing 747-8i. It’s by far my favorite Aircraft/Cabin combo in the LH Group fleet and I go out of my way to experience it!
