USA to Europe for $300? Yep….
Due to the fare war between United and American where United has been targeting some of AA’s Hubs, LH passengers get to benefit from the fare deals. This happens because the agreement between LH and United is that United sets the fares for Star Alliance member flights departing the USA, so basically what United charges as a fare, will be the same on Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, Brussels, and Air Canada.
Though there are a lot of great deals, especially on Tuesday departures in November and December, Philadelphia – Dublin is hands down the best deal with fares ranging between $290 and $320 (yes, roundtrip). Other deals out of Miami, Dallas, St. Louis, and Phoenix are good, but not as good as PHL – DUB. The absolute lowest prices seem to happen in November.
Book quick, fare wars are unpredictable and can end anytime without notice.

Lufthansa’s current ‘Y+’ sale wraps up in about a week, and in the mean time there are some deals that come close to what regular economy class tickets would cost during peak summer travel.
The sale to Europe covers most of the summer travel period and has fares starting as low as $1550 for New York – Milan and goes up into the mid-$1900 range for East Coast and Midwest departures. West Coast fares start in the low $2000 neighborhood. Compared to Economy fares during this ‘summer peak’ book period, the Premium Economy fares are only $400-600 more and you certainly get a good value for that premium, including better seats, additional free ‘check-in luggage’, and more miles for your frequent flyer account in most cases when compared to Economy.
At the same time, Lufthansa is running specials to Africa where you can get from the USA to Northern Africa for less than $1000 in Economy. But this fare sale covers departures for mid to late May only.
For the Premium Economy sale to Europe, the sale ends on May 17 and covers departures taking place between May 22 and August 22. Return travel must take place between June 5 and November 22. Weekend surcharges may apply for Thursday-Sunday departure or returns.

Austrian has launched a deeply discounted fare for flights between Chicago or Washington and Hong Kong for only $2500! Miami – Hong Kong can be had for $2800. The fares seem to valid beginning in September and availability runs well into 2017. For those to whom it’s important, these are ‘P’ fares. Of course, these flights from the US connect through Vienna.
Not sure if these are error fares or if they will only last for a short while. So if you see something you like, book it. It may not be there tomorrow!
Austrian’s website can be quite challenging when trying to find inventory so I suggest that you use something like Google.com/flights to help you track down availability for this fare.

Just received note that Lufthansa has launched a 48 hour Economy Fare Sale that knocks fares down up to 50% for travel from Germany to the USA. The sale ends Thursday so make a decision quickly!
A lot of USA destinations from Frankfurt and Munich are pricing as low as €449. Destinations at this price point include Charlotte, Boston, and Philadelphia. Most other east coast destinations price around €479-499. West Coast is slight higher.
Keep in mind that these fares are eligible for the myOffer upgrade program that allows you to bid to sit in Premium Economy when booking an Economy seat.
In addition, you can still apply to get the €20 voucher good towards bookings made for travel originating in Germany. This makes a good fare sale that much better!
The details for the fare sale are as follows:
Departures must take place between April 13 and June 30, 2016.
Return travel must take place between April 14 and September 30, 2016.
Tickets must be purchased 7 days prior to departure.

Lufthansa has launched a summer fare sale that runs until April 8 and at first glance it looks like the savings range from 10-30% off of normal summer fares.
Some of the best deals involve Frankfurt. Flying to Frankfurt from NYC can happen for only $789, while Chicago, Washington DC or Denver to Frankfurt prices for only $989. Typically these are $1300-1500 fares during the summer.
Otherwise most East Coast departures to Europe range between $1100-1300 and fares from the midwest start at $1200 and work their way up to the mid $1500 range. Remember that these fares are upgradeable to Premium Economy using Lufthansa’s myOffer bid program.
The terms of the sale are as follows:
Sale ends April 8, 2016
Departures must take place between July 4 and August 22, 2016
Return travel must take place between July 4, 2016 and February 22, 2017.
Mid-Week departure/return required. Weekend flights will incur a surcharge of $200.
