LufthansaFlyer’s 1st Anniversary Celebration: Enter to Win 10,000 ‘Miles & More’ Miles!

As a token of my appreciation to all of you great Lufthansa fans that have helped make “LufthansaFlyer” a success, I am giving away 10,000 “Miles & More” Miles celebrating LufthansaFlyer’s First Anniversary.

Each friday for the next 4 weeks (beginning with this post), I will post a Contest Entry “story” on my site. All you need to do to enter is to leave a comment to that post. Since I will be posting 4 Contest Entry “stories” you will be able to enter each time, giving you 4 chances to win the miles. You can enter at any time on any of the Contest Entry “stories” during the contest period, just remember it’s 1 entry per post.

Once the contest closes I will assign each entry a number and use Random.org to pick the winner. For example, if the first Contest Entry Post gets 50 entries, those will become entries #1-50, the entries for the second post will start with #51, and so on for Contest Entry Posts #3 and #4.

Once the winner has been chosen, I’ll arrange to have the 10,000 miles deposited to your Miles & More account within 2 weeks.

If you are not a ‘Miles & More’ member, you can sign up here.

Thanks again to everyone for making LufthansaFlyer’s first year a fantastic one! I’ve had an absolutely great time getting to know you and helping many of you with your Lufthansa related travel!

The Lufthansa Group in no way is affiliated with this contest.
Contest deadline is Friday September 21, 2012 (Midnight US Eastern Time).

Miles & More Partners With Europcar For August Giveway

During the month of August, Miles & More has partnered with Europcar for a contest that will award 3 winners a free weekend rental from Europcar (class of car not indicated).

The contest involves a small amount of skill. You need to play a “game” where you arrange articles into a suitcase and can only succeed if you arrange the items in a way that they do not overlap. After completing 3 such “packing” tasks, you are then taken to the Sweepstakes Entry Page where you need to enter your contact information and Miles & More account number.

Here is an example of the “Packing Puzzle” that you need to complete in order to be eligible to enter (there are 3 levels that you need to complete):

Lufthansa’s New Miles & More App Now Available

Invalid request error occurred.A few days ago, Lufthansa launched a new App (available for Apple only) for Miles & More members. The new App gives users access to their account (mile balances, status level, privileges, etc.), news from Miles & More, a handy Lounge Finder for lounges worldwide (including eligible partner lounges based on status and fare) and a Shop Finder which lets you find retailers near your location who you can earn miles with.

Additionally, Lufthansa’s MemberScout community is integrated into this App as well. For those of you not familiar with Memberscout, it offers Miles & More members a conduit whereby members can communicate with one another. For example, if I am traveling to Nuremberg, and have a question about most anything as it relates to Nuremberg, I can use MemberScout to find Miles & More members living in Nuremberg and ask them my question. Its a great way to find localized information quickly and efficiently.
There is also a Map function that lets you see Miles & More “MemberScouts” that are near you (your device needs to have location services enabled).

Fan Of Lufthansa’s 747-8i? Then This Luggage Is For You!

Last night, I was browsing through Lufthansa’s WorldShop online catalog to see what is new for their summer collection and came across what may have become a must have “accessory” for the season.

If you’ve been reading my scribble over the past few months, you know that I have this somewhat unhealthly fan-ship (note that I did not say obsession or addiction) of Boeing’s 747 and specifically, Lufthansa’s 747-8i that has recently entered service (My solo First Class experience on the new “Queen Of The Skies”). As a matter of fact, Lufthansa was gracious enough to help feed my addiction and invited me to attend the ceremonies on the Eve of the Inaugural Flight on June 1.

So you can imagine the silly grin that broke out on my face when I saw that Rimowa has once again partnered with Lufthansa to bring out a special edition luggage collection dedicated to the 747-8i. This collection is made of aluminum and is trimmed in the same leather that you will find the in the First Class cabin aboard Lufthansa’s 747-8i.

For those of you familiar with Rimowa you know why they have such a loyal following. Their luggage plain and simply is among the best you can buy. The polycarbonate or aluminum shells are nearly indestructable and look great. The look of the luggage is based on the fuselage material found on the Junkers JU-52 and is consistent across most of their products.

Though not the lowest priced luggage you’ll find, it’s certainly worth the investment. I’ve had my Rimowa pieces for years and there is no sign of them giving up. When transiting through airports in Europe, it seems that the majority of travelers have a Rimowa trolley in tow.

Now there’s another collection to add to their success and it looks like my existing Rimowa pieces are in jeopardy of being relegated to the closet. Currently the pieces are showing out of stock, but should be available again later in July or early August.

All of a sudden, I have a great reason for a mileage run.
