LUFTHANSA Updates South Africa Timetable

Aside from all of this strike talk, Lufthansa did take time to announce that they have made a change that impacts their service to Cape Town, South Africa.

Until now, Lufthansa flew between Frankfurt and Cape Town only during the winter season in the northern hemispehere, which is the same time that South Africa enjoys its summer.   Beginning with their Spring/Summer timetable, the route will be flown year-around.   The 3 weekly flights will continue to be the same:

Lufthansa flight LH576 will depart Frankfurt at 10:15p on Wednesday/Friday/Sunday.   The flight arrives in Cape Town at 10:00a the following morning.

Lufthansa flight LH577 will depart Cape Town at 5:40p on Monday/Thursday/Saturday.  The flight arrives in Frankfurt at 5:40a the following morning.

Lufthansa will continue to use the Airbus A340-300 on the route.

Daily service between Frankfurt and Johannesburg remains unchanged.

BRUSSELS Adds New Destination

BRUSSELS has announced it will begin service for the first time to Yerevan, Armenia beginning with their Spring/Summer 2017 timetable.  The new service will be a combination of either once-weekly or twice-weekly flights depending on the month.

The planned schedule is as follows, beginning March 31:

Brussels will operate weekly flights between Brussels and Yerevan throughout the year.  Flight SN2899 will depart Brussels at 9:25p on Fridays, and arrive in Yerevan at 3:55a the following morning.   The return flight from Yerevan will take place on Saturdays, operating as SN2900 and will depart Yerevan at 4:45a and arrive in Brussels at 7:45a.

In addition to this once-weekly flight, SN will add a second weekly flight in July and August due to an expected increase in demand for the summer holiday season.    This second flight will operate as SN2899 departing Brussels on Tuesdays at 9:25a, arriving in Yerevan at 3:55a the following morning.   The return flight will operate as SN2900 and will take place on Wednesdays with a departure time of 4:45a from Yerevan, arriving in Brussels at 7:45a.

AUSTRIAN Releases Details Regarding Los Angeles Service

A month ago, Austrian filed plans to begin service between Vienna and Los Angeles, but provided few details.    That has now been addressed with a news release from VIE earlier today.

Beginning April 10, OS will start flying between Vienna and Los Angeles 6 times a week using their 777 aircraft.   Initially the route will be seasonal, operating only with the summer timetable.    Flights will not take place on Sundays.

Flight OS81 will depart Vienna at 10a, arriving in Los Angeles at 1:30p (Same day).

Flight OS82 will depart Los Angeles at 3:05p, arriving in Vienna at 12:00p the following afternoon.

Reservations are now open for this flight, with fares starting as low as $800.

BRUSSELS Adds New Destination

Brussels Heading To India & Offers Great Fares To Celebrate

Brussels Airlines has announced that it will begin service between Brussels, Belgium and Mumbai, India on March 26, 2017.

The new flight will operate 5 times a week under the following schedule:

Flight SN601 will depart Brussels at 10:50a and arrive in Mumbai at 11:05p (Same day).   Flights will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.  Flight time is estimated at 8 hours 45 minutes.

Flight SN602 will depart Mumbai at 1:05a and arrive in Brussels at 7:15a (Same day).  Flights will take place on Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.    Flight time is estimated at 9 hours 40 minutes.

Brussels will use their A330 aircraft on the route.

Reservations can be made now and Brussels is offering extremely attractive fares.    From what I see, Economy class roundtrips are running at only $450 for most days, and a very attractive $1700 for Business Class.

Late last week SWISS updated their timetable for 2017 with 4 updates concerning the 777 the days it will fly on certain route.    This is just the first batch of changes and more will be coming in the next few weeks.   For now, here is what is changing with 777 service going into 2017:

Zurich – Bangkok will see the A340-300 replace the 777 between March 28 and April 22 on 3 of the 7 flights each week.   The A340 will fly the route on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday while the 777 will fly the route on the remaining days.  These days are based on Zurich departures.

Zurich – Montreal will see the 777 replace the A330-300 between March 26 and May 31 on 3 of the 7 flights each week.   The 777 will fly the route Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday while the A330 will fly the route on the remaining days.   These days are based on Zurich departures.

Zurich – San Francisco will see the 777 fly the route everyday beginning on April 17.  Currently the A340 is flying the route 4 days a week, while the 777 flies on the remaining 3 days.

Zurich – Singapore will see the 777 fly the route everyday beginning March 4.   Currently the A340 is flying the route 4 days a week, while the 777 flies on the remaining 3 days.
