LUFTHANSA’s First A350 Arrives In Munich: Photos & Videos

Earlier today, amid poor conditions at Munich, Lufthansa’s first A350 (D-AIXA) finally touched down at her new home base to begin what should be a long and successful career.

As I mentioned in earlier posts, D-AIXA will begin a concentrated schedule starting tomorrow that will take her around Germany to allow pilots to gain certification to fly the A350.   After this 7-10 day marathon, LH Technik will complete the installation of parts of the interior and other items before being released into service.    The first event is scheduled for February 2 where the A350 will enjoy a ‘Roll In’ reception in Munich that I’ll be attending.  Then on February 9, D-AIXA will fly a special roundtrip between Munich and Hamburg and then on February 10 she’ll begin regularly scheduled service between Munich and Delhi.

Lufthansa captured nearly every minute today of the A350 as it flew from Toulouse to Munich.    Below you’ll find a series of photos and videos that LH had posted throughout the day celebrating the new milestone for the airline.  All photos and videos are courtesy of Lufthansa.

LUFTHANSA Planning SPECIAL A350 Promo Flight With Special Events In Hamburg & Munich

Put this in your calendar!

Lufthansa is planning a special 1-off flight for their new A350 that will take lucky passengers from Munich to Hamburg and back.  The day will be full of special events surrounding the addition of the A350 to the fleet.

The flight is tentatively scheduled for February 9 (however Lufthansa has not yet confirmed the exact details).   From what I understand the flight will depart  Munich at 10:35am and return from Hamburg at 5:00p and will cost only €179 roundtrip.

The flight was available for booking earlier today, but I think a glitch has caused the flight info to be removed from Lufthansa’s timetable.  Keep checking as it should be returned fairly soon.   Once the flight is full, the booking will close.

The flight numbers are predictable!  The outbound flight will be LH350 and the return flight will be LH359, a quiet tribute to the aircraft model.

Passengers on this flight will have a few nice things to experience in Munich ahead of the flight, and once in Hamburg they will enjoy additional Lufthansa hospitality at their Technik facility.

Again, this is tentative and plans like this can change with little notice so take this post as an ‘FYI’ and pay attention to various outlets like ‘VFT’ or FlyerTalk’s Lufthansa Forum.

More Lufthansa A350 Flights For North America…..

In addition to my previous post talking about the A350 coming to places like Chicago, Mexico City, and New York’s JFK there are a few other cities that will see LH’s newest Munich-based flagship.

Beginning on March 25, the A346 currently flying between Munich and Newark will be replaced by an A350.  Though the schedule says it’s only in place for Spring and Summer, I suspect that the A350 will become a year-round visitor to Newark.

Denver will also begin to see the A350 next week, though the introduction will be phased in.    Between March 25 and May 31, the A350 will fly to Denver everyday EXCEPT for Tuesday and Thursday.    Then, between June 1 and June 30, the A350 will fly to ‘DEN’ everyday except Thursday.   The A350 will fly the route daily beginning July 1.

In addition to Newark and Denver, the A350 will also debut on the daily flight between Munich and Vancouver beginning May 1.    The A350 will replace the A333 that currently serves the route.
