SWISS Giving Away Economy Tickets With Each Swiss World Cup Match

SWISS Giving Away Economy Tickets With Each Swiss World Cup Match

Preface:   I am not 100% certain if this contest is open to everyone in any country of if there are eligibility restrictions.  The terms/conditions do not clearly spell out participation rules.   So you might be able to enter, but you may not be eligible.

To celebrate the Swiss National Team’s participation in the World Cup that starts this week, SWISS is giving away a pair of Economy Tickets to a lucky winner for every match that the team plays.   The tickets will be valid for travel anywhere on SWISS’ world-wide network.

To enter, all you have to do is visit THIS LINK and enter your guess as to how many goals the team will score against their opponents.   You’ll have to go to the Contest Entry Site ahead of each match and make your guess for the game.

As I mentioned, this contest may not be open to everyone.   It may only be offered for residents of Switzerland, but I have not seen that anywhere in the T/Cs.   I was able to enter successfully, so perhaps it is open to all.   Regardless, it will only take you a minute to enter so even if your entry is not eligible, you didn’t waste much of your time.

ZURICH Plane Spotting: My Favorite Shots From 2 Day Visit

ZURICH Plane Spotting: My Favorite Shots From 2 Day Visit

Back in May, I spent several days in Europe that included visits to Frankfurt, Hamburg (for the FlyerTalk Hamburg-Do, Istanbul and Zurich. My visit to Zurich was specifically geared for spending 2 full days of plane-spotting from different airport vantage points including ZRH’s fantastic Observation Deck and 2 parking structures that over look the airport.

Over 2 days I took well over 1000 photos and have whittled them down to only a few hundred. Out of this group of finalists, I pulled out some of my favorites and share them here. There will be a follow-up post to this one that will include several more photos as I did not want to have a post with over 20-30 photos and slow down everyone’s download!

For more of my Plane Spotting photos, please visit my Plane Spotting Archive!

Enjoy!

LUFTHANSA / UNITED: New York – Oslo For Mid $500s

LUFTHANSA / UNITED: New York – Oslo For Mid $500s

Over the past few weeks, there has been a flurry of deals to places like Copenhagen and other northern European destinations for winter travel on LUFTHANSA and other Star Alliance members.. Most of the these deals have been for travel originating from the East Coast of the USA, primarily NYC and Washington DC.

Last night, as I was scouring the ‘Matrix’ and Google Flights I found that Oslo is  getting attention from Lufthansa and United with attractive fares for November/December travel. In many cases, you can fly between Newark and Oslo for $530-$560 and there’s even a non-stop United option that is available for a bit of convenience.

These low fares are available for trips as short as 2 days to trips taking 3+ weeks and everything in between.    For trips that are 2-3 days long, the best fare inventory that I could find was for Friday departures.   If you’re planning on a longer trip, look for Tuesday and Thursday departures from the USA as they are yielding the best fares.   Leaving on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday brought fares up to $800+.

Yes it may be Winter in Oslo as far as these fares are concerned, but that shouldn’t preclude you from taking advantage of the deal! 🙂
