LUFTHANSA’s New Look Arrives In Hamburg…..

Lufthansa’s first aircraft to sport the new livery arrived in Hamburg earlier this morning where she’ll get a refresh of the economy cabin before being introduced officially to the public next week.

‘D-ABYA’, Lufthansa’s first 747-8i, arrived from Rome where she was repainted into the new LH colors.    The interior work that will take place in HAM will reflect the new direction that Lufthansa is taking with interior colors.   Passengers will be greeted by warmer and lighter blue tones similar to the color scheme found aboard the A350 aircraft.    Over time, all aircraft will have their interior reworked into the new look.

These are some of the latest photos that Lufthansa has published showing D-ABYA’s arrival from ‘FCO’.   She’ll be in HAM for a few days and then flown to Frankfurt sometime on Tuesday.

Looks quite dark in the overcast conditions. I wish they had applied a similar angle treatment to the engine covers to make the middle of the aircraft ‘pop’ a bit more.

More Plane Spotting From Zurich……

More Plane Spotting From Zurich……

As I find time to go through and process photos taken from my transfers through Zurich a few weeks ago, I’ve come up with the next batch of shots that I think are worthy of being posted.

Having a 13 hour layover on the outbound and a 7 hour layover on the inbound segments gave me plenty of time.

These shots were taken from the SWISS First Class Lounge in Terminal ‘E’ which gives you a fantastic view of all of ZRH’s runways.   The only issue is that the sun is not your best friend during most of the day because it either ‘back lights’ or ‘top lights’ the aircraft so it’s tougher to get a nice vibrant profile of any plane.

Regardless, ZRH is still one of the best all-around airports to spot in and is extremely ‘spotter friendly’ whether you are in a pre- or post security part of the airport or outside the airport property altogether and just hanging around the perimeter fences with your ladder looking for that perfect shot.

I’ll post more as I get through them.

BRUSSELS AIRLINES Wants You To Create A Tribute Livery

BRUSSELS AIRLINES Wants You To Create A Tribute Livery

BRUSSELS AIRLINES has announced a contest seeking someone to create a 5th tribute livery to compliment the other 4 in the fleet.

The contest revolves around Belgium’s identity and ‘Belgitude’ and is looking for someone to design a livery that captures the heart and spirit of Belgium and her people and translate it onto the side of an aircraft.

The contest is straight forward.   You’ll need to download their blank aircraft template, design your livery, and upload it for consideration.   A panel of 10 judges will review all entries and select 2 finalists.

The submissions of the 2 finalists will be posted on Brussels’ Facebook page and the submission with the most votes from the FB community will have their design applied to an aircraft.

The deadline to enter this contest is Midnight on August 31.   Winners will be selected in September.

The Grand Prize winner will have the opportunity to witness their design being applied to the aircraft, as well as being present at the unveiling of the aircraft to the public.

To enter, please follow this link to the Contest’s webpage.
