UPDATED TO REFLECT A RECENT LUFTHANSA UPDATE:
The cabin crew union has announced the next phase of it week-long walk out against Lufthansa. The latest update suggests widespread paralysis throughout Lufthansa timetable on Monday, November 9.
The union has announced that its members will walk off the job in Frankfurt and Dusseldorf between 4:30a and 11:00p local ‘Frankfurt’ time, grounding domestic, European and long haul travel scheduled for that time frame. Lufthansa’s operations in Munich will also be subject to the walk-out between 3:30a and 12:00a.
Lufthansa now claims that nearly 70 percent of their flights will be able to operated, and expects to cancel about 1000 of them tomorrow. Initially, it was thought that cancellations would be far more reaching.

By now most of you have heard the news regarding the week-long strike that has begun at Lufthansa by their cabin crews. The strike started Friday, impacting travel primarily to and from Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.
Further details are available regarding the next few days:
A strike has been called for Saturday between 6:00a and 11:00p for all flights operating to and from Dusseldorf. In addition, it appears that most of Lufthansa’s medium haul fleet in Frankfurt will be subject to the strike at the same time on Saturday. This would include flights operated by Boeing 737s, and Airbus A319, A320, and A321 aircraft. This threatens most of LH’s domestic and intra-European services from FRA and DUS.
It appears as though long haul travel is safe for at least tomorrow in Frankfurt.
Also, the union stated that there would be no strike actions in Munich at least through Sunday since this weekend is busy with the return of travelers from Holidays in Bavaria.

I suspect more updates will be made available over the weekend concerning flights for next week. I would expect that Munich may be especially hard hit after the Holiday Weekend.

Lufthansa and the union representing their cabin crews failed to reach any semblance of a consensus during an 11th hour meeting in an attempt to head off strikes.
As a result, the union has announced that it will immediately begin planning their schedule of strikes for the coming week (between November 6 and 13). They indicated that no strikes would take place before 06:00 local Frankfurt time tomorrow. At the same time however, they suggested that strikes would begin tomorrow and there would be work stoppages.
If your travels include LH over the next week, you should probably call the airline or your travel agent so that you can be reaccommodated. In the past, LH has made it fairly easy to be rebooked onto another LH Group or Star Alliance member flight.
I’m curious how long it will take for the German public to wake up and see just how destructive this kind of behavior has been to both the airline and the country. Its one thing for a union to protect an employee and represent their best interests, it’s a wholly other thing to take a company and the public as hostages while they try to extort unreasonable solutions.
