LUFTHANSA Takes Home Its First A350 And Will Show It Off Around Germany Immediately

In a short while now,  Lufthansa’s first A350 will take off from the runway at Airbus’ complex in Toulouse and head for Munich where she is due to arrive at approximately about 2 hours later.    This delivery flight will mark the long awaited beginning of the A350 fleet that will initially be based in Munich.

The ‘keys’ to the plane were officially handed over to Lufthansa on Monday after completing the paperwork that transferred ownership of the airplane from Airbus to Lufthansa.

Lufthansa is currently live streaming the event, and you can watch it here while it is taking place (If there is no feed, that means that they have stopped broadcasting).  You can also check their Facebook Portal for additional video as they make it available.

German Avgeeks In For a Treat!

For those of you living near major airports around Germany, you’ll have a chance to see the airplane in person as she will do a wide series of take offs and landings at airports around the country.   This is done in order to give cockpit crew ample time to gain certification for flying the aircraft.  You can find that the initial training flight schedule here.

After delivery,  LH Technik will take time to install the aircraft’s cabin interior in Munich ahead of it’s debut on the route between Munich and Delhi on February 10.

Before entering ‘revenue service’, LH will show off ‘D-AIXA’ at an invitation only ‘Roll In’ event in Munich that I will be attending on February 2.   From there, Lufthansa will have the A350 fly a special pair of flights from Munich to Hamburg and back on February 9 right before it departs for Delhi on the 10th.

Not to be out done by their colleagues in Frankfurt, the First Class Services team in Munich is also celebrating Christmas with their own version of a Holiday Duck.

The duck is available until supplies last, so if there’s a way you can route our travels through Munich AND Frankfurt between now and Christmas, you can add these little critters to your collection.

UPDATE: Booking For Special A350 Flight Between MUC and HAM Re-Opens Tomorrow!

A few days ago I posted about Lufthansa’s special event to celebrate their first A350 that would take passengers on a round-trip between Munich and Hamburg.

For whatever reason, LH stopped accepting bookings for a few days, but now has communicated that tickets will be available beginning December 13.  I’m not sure if that means midnights Central Europe Time, or not, but at some point tomorrow you can book a round trip ticket scheduled for February 9 for only €179.

The special A350 flight will operate as LH350 on the outbound and LH359 for the return flight.    The flight from Munich will depart at 10:30a and return to leave Hamburg at approximately 5:00p for the return flight to Munich.

If your one of the lucky early bookers, you have a chance of sitting in Business Class.    Tickets are the same price regardless of class, so the earlier to try to book the better odds you have of sitting in Business.   FYI, the A350 fleet will not have a First Class cabin, so don’t look for those seats when booking.

The flight can be booked through Lufthansa’s dedicated A350 webpage.

LUFTHANSA Planning SPECIAL A350 Promo Flight With Special Events In Hamburg & Munich

LUFTHANSA Planning SPECIAL A350 Promo Flight With Special Events In Hamburg & Munich

Put this in your calendar!

Lufthansa is planning a special 1-off flight for their new A350 that will take lucky passengers from Munich to Hamburg and back.  The day will be full of special events surrounding the addition of the A350 to the fleet.

The flight is tentatively scheduled for February 9 (however Lufthansa has not yet confirmed the exact details).   From what I understand the flight will depart  Munich at 10:35am and return from Hamburg at 5:00p and will cost only €179 roundtrip.

The flight was available for booking earlier today, but I think a glitch has caused the flight info to be removed from Lufthansa’s timetable.  Keep checking as it should be returned fairly soon.   Once the flight is full, the booking will close.

The flight numbers are predictable!  The outbound flight will be LH350 and the return flight will be LH359, a quiet tribute to the aircraft model.

Passengers on this flight will have a few nice things to experience in Munich ahead of the flight, and once in Hamburg they will enjoy additional Lufthansa hospitality at their Technik facility.

Again, this is tentative and plans like this can change with little notice so take this post as an ‘FYI’ and pay attention to various outlets like ‘VFT’ or FlyerTalk’s Lufthansa Forum.
